Pewter Plum Handspun Cowl

A beautiful simple cowl that is soft and practical. Firstly, I spun the fibre on my Ashford spinning wheel, plied it, skeined it, washed it, wound it into a ball and then finally knitted it on circular knitting needles. If anyone knows me well, they know that I don't usually knit, but this gorgeous yarn was urging me to try and I am so pleased that I did as it turned out just right. Simple and allowing the 'perfectly imperfect' handspun yarn to shine! Actually it does a little as the beautiful lustre of the silk adds a very subtle sheen to the various purple hues.
 
Please note that due to the handcrafted characteristics of handspun yarn, there may be slight inconsistencies in thickness and ply, but this is an endearing part of the charm of handspun yarn and ensures that this piece is truly one of a kind.
 
The cowl is adorned with a simple wooden Spindle & Spool button making it an eco-conscious option, as both the fibres and button are naturally sustainable and compostable, ensuring that this handcrafted item can return to the earth after many cherished years, rather than adding to the enormous problem of textile waste produced by the mass made fashion industry.
