‘Stripe’ Nalbinding Cowl
I am very excited to be learning the ancient Viking Nalbinding technique, which is quite rustic and creates a totally unique appearance. It is a very slow process using a needle and short amounts of yarn which are felted together as required. The cowl has been stitched with cream and beige 100% Australian wool and enhanced with a darker stripe of my own handspun yarn. It is suitable for anyone but would be especially perfect for those who are interested in historical crafts or attend medieval re-enactment events.
Please note that due to the handcrafted characteristics of handspun yarn, there may be slight inconsistencies in thickness and ply, but this is an endearing part of the charm of handspun yarn and ensures that this piece is truly one of a kind.
This cowl is an eco-conscious option, as the decorative handspun fibre is left over (remnants from other projects), and all materials are naturally sustainable and compostable, ensuring that this handcrafted item can return to the earth after many cherished years.
Materials:
Created with 100% Australian Wools and finished off with a wooden button.
Measurements:
Approximately 19cm in width and 50cm in circumference.
Care Instructions:
To ensure your cowl lasts and looks its best, please give it a gentle hand wash and dry flat in the shade as required.
